Vs buying a complete divan set: A full divan set includes both the base and a matched mattress, chosen and tested to work together. A bed base alone is the better choice when you already have a mattress you want to keep, when you want to choose base and mattress from different brands, or when you are replacing a base that has worn out while the mattress remains in good condition. If you are buying both together and want a single coordinated purchase, a divan set removes the guesswork of pairing separately.
Vs a platform top vs a sprung base: Platform top bases provide a firm, flat surface and are compatible with all mattress types including memory foam, latex, and pocket sprung. A sprung base adds a layer of spring response from the base itself, which can extend the life of the mattress by absorbing part of the daily load. If you sleep on a heavier or deeper mattress, or if your current mattress is already quite soft, a sprung base may improve both comfort and longevity. If you prefer a firm feel or sleep on a memory foam or latex mattress, a platform top is the right choice. The Luxury offers both, so you can choose the feel that suits your mattress.
Vs other bases in the range: Entry-level divan bases tend to offer a single base type, a narrower choice of storage and shorter guarantees, making them a practical choice where budget is the priority. The Luxury sits above these, adding a choice between Platform Top and Firm Edge Sprung construction, continental drawer storage on larger sizes and a 10 year guarantee. Premium bases may offer deeper spring systems or longer guarantees, while ottoman bases are the better option where maximum storage is the priority.
The Dunlopillo Luxury is backed by a 10 year guarantee. A guarantee of this length on a divan base is a strong signal of confidence in the build quality - and for a base that may be paired with a quality mattress for many years, long-term structural integrity matters.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Member - Dunlopillo is a member of the National Bed Federation, the trade body for UK bed manufacturers, which promotes high standards of quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
The Dunlopillo Luxury gives you the choice of a firm Platform Top or a supportive Firm Edge Sprung base, with no storage, 2 drawers, 4 drawers or 2+2 continental drawers to suit your room - a straightforward replacement or upgrade base that works with any standard UK mattress. Made in the UK and backed by a 10 year guarantee, it is a base built to support your mattress for years to come.

I bought this bed base to replace my previous bed base which has last for almost 40 years, although it was getting tatty around the edges! My old base had 4 very large very strong drawers & at first inspection the drawers on the new base are not as deep & do not appear to be as sturdy as the old ones. However I have managed to fill them & they appear to be strong enough & glide in & out seamlessly, which is a bonus. Not cheap. but nothing Dunlopillo is, but you are buying quality goods. so get what you pay for. Would recommend
