Vs buying a complete divan set: A full divan set includes both the base and a matched mattress, chosen and tested to work together. A bed base alone is the better choice when you already have a mattress you want to keep, when you want to choose base and mattress from different brands, or when you are replacing a base that has worn out while the mattress remains in good condition. If you are buying both together and want a single coordinated purchase, a divan set removes the guesswork of pairing separately.
Vs a platform top vs a sprung base: Platform top bases provide a firm, flat surface and are compatible with all mattress types including memory foam, latex, and pocket sprung. A Firm Edge Sprung base adds a layer of spring response from the base itself, which can extend the life of the mattress by absorbing part of the daily load. If you sleep on a heavier or deeper mattress, or if your current mattress is already quite soft, a sprung base may improve both comfort and longevity. If you prefer a firm feel or sleep on a memory foam or latex mattress, a platform top is the right choice.
Vs other bases in the range: Entry-level and mid-range divan bases typically use laminate or melamine drawers on nylon or standard runners, with lower drawer weight limits and guarantees of around 10 years. The Premium steps up with dovetail-jointed timber drawers on steel ball-bearing runners, a 25kg limit per drawer and a 15 year guarantee, making it a strong choice if you use your drawers daily and want a base built for the long term. If you need far more storage than drawers can offer, an ottoman base gives access to the full under-base cavity instead.
The Dunlopillo Premium is backed by a 15 year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. A guarantee of this length on a divan base is a strong signal of confidence in the build quality - and for a base with timber drawers in daily use, long-term structural integrity matters.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
Manufacturing Guild Mark - Dunlopillo holds the Manufacturing Guild Mark, an industry recognition of its dedication to quality, craftsmanship and durability.
FSC Certified - Independently certified confirmation that the timber used in this base has been sourced from responsibly managed forests.
The Dunlopillo Premium gives you a padded platform top as standard, a Firm Edge Sprung upgrade if you want extra comfort, and dovetail-jointed timber drawers built for everyday use - a long-lasting replacement or upgrade base that works with any existing mattress. Made in the UK from FSC certified timber and backed by a 15 year guarantee, it is a base that justifies the investment in the long term.
Fabric samples are available free of charge before you order - call 01928 242 829 or use Live Chat to request up to 5 swatches. Not sure which base is right for you? Read our divan buying guide or browse our full bed base range to compare types and brands.
