Worth Knowing
FSC Certified Scandinavian Redwood Frame
What it is: A bed frame built from FSC Certified Scandinavian Redwood and finished with a water-based stain, handmade in Britain.
How it helps you: Solid wood construction is naturally hardwearing, so the frame is built to withstand years of everyday use without losing its shape or stability, and the FSC certification confirms the timber comes from responsibly managed forests.
Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A rigid slatted base made from wooden slats, spaced 7cm apart, that supports the mattress from below.
How it helps you: The open spacing lets air circulate freely beneath the mattress, helping it stay fresh and reducing heat build-up overnight.
Low Foot End
What it is: A footboard height of 41.5cm, lower than the equivalent high foot end version of this frame.
How it helps you: The low profile keeps sightlines open across the room and makes it easier to dress the bed and reach across the mattress.
Shaker-Style Headboard and Footboard
What it is: A classic shaker-style headboard and matching footboard with clean, simple lines and a slatted design.
How it helps you: The understated style works with a wide range of bedroom looks, from traditional to contemporary, without dating quickly.
Water-Based Stain Finish
What it is: A choice of 6 water-based stains applied to the solid wood frame.
How it helps you: Water-based stains let the natural wood grain show through while giving you the flexibility to match the frame to your existing décor.

FSC Certified - The timber used in this frame is Forest Stewardship Council certified, confirming it comes from responsibly managed forests that meet strict environmental and social standards.

Vs divan beds: Bed frames like the Thornby sit on legs and allow airflow beneath the mattress. Divan sets sit flat to the floor and include a matched mattress base. The Thornby is generally lighter to move and offers more visible wood styling, while divan sets provide a more integrated finish and often include storage.
Vs metal or upholstered frames: Solid wood frames like the Thornby feel warmer underfoot and quieter in use than metal frames, and they hold their shape well over time. Upholstered frames are softer to the touch and add a plush look, while wood frames like this one suit a more classic, natural aesthetic.
Vs other frames in the range: The Thornby sits at an accessible price point within the Land of Beds wooden frame range, with a simpler shaker construction than more heavily detailed designs. Customers who want a low foot end and understated style will find the Thornby a straightforward, hardwearing choice.
The Thornby Low Foot End Wooden is backed by Land of Beds' 5-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. Given the solid wood construction and UK craftsmanship behind this frame, it's a bed built to last, and the guarantee reflects that confidence.
The Thornby brings classic shaker style and solid wood durability to any bedroom, with a low foot end that keeps the room feeling open and a choice of six stain finishes to match your décor. Available in six sizes from Small Single to Super King Size with free UK delivery.

read moreVery happy with this bed. I'm always a bit worried about wood beds that they'll creak or slats might not be strong enough, but for the money this seems a very well made bed. We put it all together pretty quickly (less than an hour). Came in 3 packages, all in good condition (thank you delivery company). I was pleased to see the headboard and rear legs were already fully constructed. The legs are chunky and strong plus. Fastenings seem good quality. Everything aligned well. Only had for a month but no issues so far. Two small points. * They provided a spacer for laying out the slats which didn't really work for us. We measured and made our own to ensure even spacing and support right to the ends. * Delivery took a little while and we didn't hear a thing for over a week after initial email. We were just going to start chasing when the delivery company contacted us to arrange delivery.
