The Devonport is a single-over-single bunk bed from Land of Beds, made from laminated particle board in a grey finish, with a pull-out trundle drawer that takes a third single mattress for sleepovers or doubles as storage. Both bunks use a wooden slatted base and accept a standard UK single mattress up to 18cm deep, while the trundle drawer takes a single mattress up to 15cm deep. Guard rails run along both sides of the top bunk, and the ladder has cut-out handles. The Devonport arrives flat packed in 4 boxes, and mattresses are not included.

Worth Knowing
Laminated Particle Board Frame
What it is: A bunk bed frame made from particle board with a grey laminated finish, with metal cross braces beneath the top bunk.
How it helps you: The laminated surface gives a smooth, contemporary look that is easy to wipe clean, and the cross braces add stability to the frame.
Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A slatted wooden base supporting the mattress on each bunk.
How it helps you: Allows air to circulate beneath the mattress, helping it breathe for a more comfortable sleep.
Ladder with Cut-Out Handles
What it is: A fixed ladder near the head end of the frame, with shaped cut-out grip handles and wide, flat steps.
How it helps you: Makes climbing up and down safer and easier, especially for children, and the wide steps are comfortable underfoot.
Top Bunk Guard Rails
What it is: Safety rails fitted along both sides of the top bunk, with an opening beside the ladder for access.
How it helps you: Helps prevent the sleeper from rolling out during the night - the rails are designed to be used with a mattress no deeper than 18cm, which keeps the effective rail height within the safety specification.
Pull-Out Trundle Drawer
What it is: A full-size trundle drawer that pulls out from beneath the lower bunk and holds a standard UK single mattress up to 15cm deep.
How it helps you: Gives you a third bed for sleepovers or visiting siblings, and when it is not needed as a bed it provides generous storage for bedding, toys or clothes.

Vs mid sleepers: A mid sleeper has an elevated single bunk with usable space beneath - usually a desk, pull-out bed, or storage - but sleeps only one child. A bunk bed sleeps two in a similar vertical footprint. If you need to sleep two children in one room, a bunk bed is the more space-efficient choice. If you need a workstation or play area beneath the bed for one child, a mid sleeper is the better fit.
Vs high sleepers: A high sleeper raises a single bed to a greater height than a mid sleeper, with a full workstation, sofa, or wardrobe underneath. It sleeps one child and suits teenagers who want a dedicated study or lounge space. A bunk bed prioritises sleeping capacity over under-bed functionality. If sleeping two is the goal, a bunk bed delivers it more directly.
Vs other bunk beds in the range: The Devonport stands out for its pull-out trundle drawer, which adds a third sleeping space or storage without taking up any extra floor space when closed. Simpler bunk beds without a trundle are typically lower in price, while triple sleepers with a permanent third bed suit rooms where three children sleep every night. If you want the flexibility to sleep three when needed and use the space for storage the rest of the time, the Devonport is a practical choice.
The Devonport gives two children their own full-length sleeping space, with guard rails on both sides of the top bunk, a ladder with cut-out handles and wooden slatted bases on both bunks. Its pull-out trundle drawer turns it into a sleeping space for three when friends stay over, and doubles as generous storage the rest of the time. Mattresses are not included - any standard UK single mattress up to 18cm deep is compatible with the top bunk, and the trundle drawer takes a single up to 15cm deep.
