Product Overview

The Kingsbury Triple is a dark grey bunk bed from Land of Beds with a single top bunk over a small double lower bunk, sleeping up to three in the footprint of one bed. Made from chipboard, it has built-in shelves along both bunks, an under-bed storage drawer, and an angled ladder with cut-out handles and glow-in-the-dark strips on the steps. The top bunk takes a standard UK single mattress up to 18cm deep, and the lower bunk a standard UK small double up to 17cm deep. Mattresses are not included.

Who Is This Bunk Bed For?

The Kingsbury Triple from Land of Beds is a dark grey chipboard bunk bed with a single top bunk over a small double lower bunk, built-in shelves, an under-bed drawer and an angled ladder with glow-in-the-dark strips, designed for up to three children sharing a room, with mattresses not included.

Best for

  • Three children sharing a room - the single over small double configuration sleeps up to three in the same footprint as one bunk bed
  • Children's rooms with limited storage - the built-in shelves and under-bed drawer make the most of the space the bed occupies
  • Parents who want reassurance on top bunk safety - the guard rails on the top bunk and glow-in-the-dark ladder strips address the two most common safety concerns
  • Younger children on the lower bunk - the lower bunk sits close to the floor, making it easy to climb in and out of bed
  • Sleepers up to 76kg (12st) on the top bunk and 76kg (12st) on the lower bunk

Not ideal for

  • Children under 6 years old - the top bunk is not recommended for children under 6. The lower bunk only is suitable for younger children.
  • Those who need a thick mattress on the top bunk - the maximum mattress depth for the top bunk is 18cm; mattresses deeper than this reduce the effective guard rail height. Check before ordering.
  • Those who want to split the bunk into separate beds - the Kingsbury Triple cannot be separated into two beds.

Worth Knowing

  • Safety note: the top bunk is not recommended for children under 6 years old. The guard rails are designed to work with a mattress up to 18cm deep - do not use a mattress deeper than this on the top bunk.
  • Two different size mattresses are required - a single (90 x 190cm, maximum 18cm deep) for the top bunk and a small double (120 x 190cm, maximum 17cm deep) for the lower bunk. Mattresses are not included.
  • This bunk bed arrives flat packed in 4 boxes and requires approximately 45 minutes to assemble with two people. Professional assembly is not available for bunk beds.
  • The Kingsbury Triple can be taken down and reassembled if needed - keep the instructions for future reference.

Inside This Bunk Bed

Chipboard Frame
What it is: A bunk bed frame made from chipboard in a dark grey finish, with panelled sides and end boards.
How it helps you: The smooth panelled finish gives a clean, contemporary look that is easy to wipe clean, and the dark grey suits a variety of bedroom styles.

Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A slatted wooden base supporting the mattress on each bunk.
How it helps you: Allows air to circulate beneath the mattress, helping it breathe for a more comfortable sleep.

Ladder with Cut-Out Handles
What it is: A fixed, angled ladder with shaped cut-out grip handles and wide, flat steps.
How it helps you: Makes climbing up and down safer and easier, especially for children, and the angled design with wide steps is easier to climb than a vertical ladder.

Glow-in-the-Dark Ladder Strips
What it is: Stick-on glow-in-the-dark strips applied to the ladder steps.
How it helps you: Helps children locate the ladder safely in the dark without turning on the main light and disturbing anyone else in the room.

Top Bunk Guard Rails
What it is: A panelled guard rail along the open side of the top bunk with cut-out hand grips, with an opening beside the ladder, and a high shelving panel along the wall side.
How it helps you: Helps prevent the sleeper from rolling out during the night - the rails are designed to be used with a mattress no deeper than 18cm, which keeps the effective rail height within the safety specification.

Built-In Shelves
What it is: Shelves integrated into the frame, running along the wall side of both the top and bottom bunks.
How it helps you: Keeps books, toys, and bedtime essentials within easy reach without needing extra furniture.

Under-Bed Storage Drawer
What it is: A large pull-out drawer built into the base beneath the lower bunk.
How it helps you: Makes use of the space beneath the lower bunk for spare bedding, clothes or toys, keeping the rest of the room clearer.

Low-Profile Lower Bunk
What it is: The lower bunk is positioned close to the floor.
How it helps you: Reduces the risk of injury for younger or smaller children climbing in and out of bed.

How it Compares

Vs mid sleepers: A mid sleeper has an elevated single bunk with usable space beneath - usually a desk, pull-out bed, or storage - but sleeps only one child. A bunk bed sleeps two (or three in a single/double configuration) in a similar vertical footprint. If you need to sleep two or more children in one room, a bunk bed is the more space-efficient choice. If you need a workstation or play area beneath the bed for one child, a mid sleeper is the better fit.

Vs high sleepers: A high sleeper raises a single bed to a greater height than a mid sleeper, with a full workstation, sofa, or wardrobe underneath. It sleeps one child and suits teenagers who want a dedicated study or lounge space. A bunk bed prioritises sleeping capacity over under-bed functionality. If sleeping two or three is the goal, a bunk bed delivers it more directly.

Vs other bunk beds in the range: The Kingsbury Triple is built for families who need to sleep three every night, with a small double lower bunk and plenty of built-in storage. Single-over-single bunk beds sleep two and take up less floor width, while bunk beds with a pull-out trundle offer a third bed only when it is needed. If you want a permanent sleeping space for three with shelves and a drawer included, the Kingsbury Triple covers it in one frame.

Ready to Set Up the Room?

The Kingsbury Triple sleeps up to three, with a single top bunk over a small double lower bunk, built-in shelves along both bunks and an under-bed drawer for extra storage. The angled ladder with cut-out handles and glow-in-the-dark strips makes night-time trips safer without waking the whole room. Mattresses are not included - you will need a standard UK single up to 18cm deep for the top bunk and a standard UK small double up to 17cm deep for the lower bunk.
