Product Overview

The Perth is a metal guest bed from Land of Beds, with a steel frame in a black metal coating and a curved headboard and footboard with decorative spindle detailing. A trundle stored beneath the main bed rolls out on castors and lifts to the same height on extendable legs, giving the choice of a single bed, a double-width bed or two separate singles. Both beds have a sprung wooden slatted base and take a standard UK single mattress, with a maximum trundle mattress depth of 20cm. Mattresses are not included.

Who Is This Guest Bed For?

The Land of Beds Perth is a black steel guest bed with a curved headboard and footboard and a trundle that lifts to main bed height on extendable legs, for use as a single, double or twin sleeping configuration, with mattresses sold separately.

Best for

  • Spare rooms that need to sleep one person day-to-day and two occasionally - the trundle stores neatly beneath the main bed until it is needed
  • Those who want two equal sleeping spaces - both the main bed and the trundle take a standard 90 x 190cm single mattress, so each guest gets the same mattress size
  • Those who need side-by-side sleeping on the same level - the trundle raises to main bed height, giving a combined sleeping width of approximately 180cm
  • Families hosting sleepovers - the trundle rolls out on castors when friends stay over and tucks away again afterwards
  • Rooms with traditional or modern decor - the curved metal frame and black finish add character to both classic and contemporary spaces

Not ideal for

  • Those who need a double bed as a permanent sleeping solution - the main bed is a single; the double configuration requires both beds to be set up together and is designed for occasional guest use
  • Those expecting a full-length super king - with the trundle raised, the combined sleeping width matches a super king, but the mattresses are 190cm long rather than the standard 200cm
  • Those using a thicker mattress on the trundle - the maximum trundle mattress depth is 20cm; a deeper mattress will not slide back beneath the main bed

Worth Knowing

  • Mattresses are not included. Two standard UK single mattresses (90 x 190cm) are needed - one for the main bed and one for the trundle.
  • The trundle rolls out on castors and lifts on extendable legs to the same height as the main bed, creating a double-width sleeping surface or two side-by-side singles. When fully set up, the trundle stands 40cm high, level with the main bed. When not in use, it stores neatly beneath the main bed.
  • The trundle requires a mattress with a maximum depth of 20cm - a deeper mattress will not slide back beneath the main bed when stored.
  • Both the main bed and the trundle have a sprung wooden slatted base, with 8.5cm between slats.
  • This guest bed arrives flat packed in 2 boxes and requires approximately 45 minutes with two people to assemble. Professional assembly is not available for guest beds.
  • The headboard is included and attaches to the frame during assembly by following the instructions supplied.
  • The Perth can be taken down and reassembled if needed - keep the instructions for future reference.

Inside This Guest Bed

Steel Frame with Black Metal Coating
What it is: A guest bed frame made from steel with a black metal coating, with a curved headboard and footboard featuring vertical spindles and decorative collar detailing.
How it helps you: Steel gives the frame a strong, durable structure, and the black finish and curved ends add character that suits both traditional and modern rooms.

Sprung Wooden Slatted Base
What it is: A base of gently curved wooden slats on both the main bed and the trundle, with 8.5cm between slats.
How it helps you: The sprung slats work with the mattress to give a comfortable, supportive feel - their natural bounce adjusts to your profile where you exert the most pressure.

Pull-Out Trundle with Lift Mechanism
What it is: A second bed stored beneath the main frame on castors, which rolls out and lifts on extendable legs to the same height as the main bed.
How it helps you: Gives three sleeping options in a single footprint - keep it stored as a single, raise it alongside to create a double-width bed, or push the two beds apart to use as two individual singles.

How it Compares

Vs standard single bed frames: A standard single bed frame gives one sleeping surface and nothing else. A guest bed gives a single bed as its primary function but stores a second sleeping surface underneath, available whenever guests need it. If the room only ever needs to sleep one person, a standard bed frame is simpler, lower in profile, and usually less expensive. If occasional two-person sleeping is needed, a guest bed removes the need for a second bed or a sofa bed entirely.

Vs sofa beds: A sofa bed converts between a sofa and a full sleeping surface, typically opening to a double or larger size. It suits living rooms or rooms where the seating function matters as much as the sleeping function. A guest bed looks like a bed and stays in a bedroom - it does not have a sofa configuration. The trundle provides a second sleeping surface without requiring the room to have a sofa. If you need furniture that acts as a sofa during the day, a sofa bed is the right choice. If you have a spare bedroom and need it to sleep two without having two full beds, a guest bed works well.

Vs other guest beds in the range: The Perth is the metal option - a steel frame with a black metal coating and curved, decorative ends, with sprung wooden slats on both beds for a more cushioned feel. Wooden guest beds suit those who prefer a natural or painted timber look, while upholstered divan guest beds usually include mattresses and give a softer finish.

Ready to Make Your Space Work Harder?

The Perth turns a single spare bedroom into a space that can sleep two overnight guests - the trundle stores neatly beneath the main bed and lifts to the same height in moments. With a steel frame in a black metal coating, curved decorative ends and sprung wooden slats on both beds, it brings character and comfort to any spare room. Mattresses are not included - any standard UK single mattress fits the main bed, and the trundle takes a single up to 20cm deep.

The bed arrived quickly, is relatively easy to put together even on my own female 5ft 1ins). Did need help on a couple of the bolts. All feels good although it is making a few noises so I think we'll need to tighten up the bolts again.
