The Sealy Ottoman Bed Base is a platform top ottoman divan base from Sealy, made in the UK from FSC certified timber and upholstered in a range of fabrics and colours. The solid lid features Sealy's StayTight anti-slip fabric to keep the mattress firmly in place, and lifts from the foot end on gas-assisted struts to open up the full cavity beneath for storage, giving far more space than a drawer divan without taking up any extra floor space. A mattress and headboard are not included - the Sealy Ottoman Bed Base is compatible with any standard UK mattress and is backed by a 5-year guarantee.
The Sealy Ottoman Bed Base is a platform top ottoman divan base with a StayTight anti-slip surface and gas-assisted end opening storage, designed for those who want to replace a divan base or add maximum hidden bedroom storage without buying a new mattress.

Worth Knowing
Platform Top Base
What it is: A solid wooden platform upholstered in fabric, forming the lid of the ottoman and covering the full area of the base.
How it helps you: Provides a firm, even surface that supports the mattress consistently across its full area, without any flex or variation - useful for memory foam and latex mattresses that benefit from a stable, unmoving base.
StayTight Anti-Slip Surface
What it is: A specialist anti-slip fabric applied to the top of the platform, covering the full area where the mattress rests.
How it helps you: Prevents the mattress from shifting or creeping during sleep, and helps keep it securely in place each time the ottoman lid is lifted.
Ottoman Storage
What it is: A gas-strut assisted lifting top that opens from the foot end to reveal the full under-base cavity.
How it helps you: The entire interior of the base becomes accessible storage - far more volume than standard drawers. The gas struts assist with lifting and hold the base open safely without needing to be held. Allow enough clear space at the foot of the bed for the lid to lift fully.
FSC Certified Timber Frame
What it is: The base is built from FSC certified timber, with lined sides for added strength.
How it helps you: Gives a sturdy, long-lasting structure you can rely on, made from timber sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Colour & Fabric Options
What it is: Available in a range of colour and fabric options.
How it helps you: Allows you to find the perfect match for your bedroom's style and décor, with free samples available so you can see the fabric before you order.
Glides
What it is: Glides are fitted to the base of the bed.
How it helps you: Allow smooth movement, protect your floors, and add a polished modern touch to the bed's design.

Vs buying a complete divan set: A full divan set includes both the base and a matched mattress, chosen and tested to work together. A bed base alone is the better choice when you already have a mattress you want to keep, when you want to choose base and mattress from different brands, or when you are replacing a base that has worn out while the mattress remains in good condition. If you are buying both together and want a single coordinated purchase, a divan set removes the guesswork of pairing separately.
Vs a platform top vs a sprung base: Platform top bases provide a firm, flat surface and are compatible with all mattress types including memory foam, latex, and pocket sprung. A sprung base adds a layer of spring response from the base itself, which can extend the life of the mattress by absorbing part of the daily load. If you sleep on a heavier or deeper mattress, or if your current mattress is already quite soft, a sprung base may improve both comfort and longevity. If you prefer a firm feel or sleep on a memory foam or latex mattress, a platform top is the right choice.
Vs other bases in the range: Compared with a drawer divan base, an ottoman base trades individual compartments for one large, open storage space - ideal for bulky items such as spare duvets, pillows and suitcases that do not fit easily into drawers. Because this ottoman opens from the foot end and nothing slides out from the sides, it also suits rooms where bedside tables or furniture would block drawers. Entry-level bases in the range typically offer shorter guarantees and fewer premium touches, while the Sealy Ottoman Bed Base adds FSC certified timber, the StayTight anti-slip surface and a 5-year guarantee from one of the UK's best-known bed brands. If you prefer organised storage you can reach without lifting the mattress, a drawer divan may suit you better.
The Sealy Ottoman Bed Base is backed by Sealy's 5-year guarantee. A 5-year guarantee on a divan base is a strong signal of confidence in the build quality - and for a base with a lifting mechanism that will be opened and closed regularly, long-term structural integrity matters.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
FSC Certified - Independently certified confirmation that the timber used in this base has been sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Zero Waste to Landfill - Sealy operates a Zero Waste to Landfill policy, meaning all production waste is recycled or repurposed rather than sent to landfill.
The Sealy Ottoman Bed Base gives you a solid, brand-quality platform top with a proven anti-slip surface and generous lift-up storage beneath - a straightforward replacement or upgrade base that works with any existing mattress. Made in the UK from FSC certified timber and backed by a 5-year guarantee, it is a base that justifies the investment in the long term.
