Box Top
What it is: An extra layer of cushioning sewn onto the top of the mattress in a box-shaped panel, adding depth to the comfort layers.
How it helps you sleep: Gives a plush, cushioned surface that eases pressure points and makes the mattress feel more luxurious from the moment you lie down.
UltraGel™
What it is: Silentnight's gel-infused foam, designed to be more breathable, cooler and lighter than standard foams.
How it helps you sleep: Spreads pressure evenly for soothing relief and easy movement, reduces partner disturbance and helps keep you at a fresher, more comfortable temperature.
Comfort Foam Layer
What it is: A durable foam layer positioned above the springs to add extra cushioning.
How it helps you sleep: Enhances the soft, sink-in comfort you feel when you first lie down, helping to relieve pressure on your joints and muscles.
Mirapocket Springs
What it is: Silentnight's pocket spring system, with individual springs each housed in their own fabric pocket so they move independently.
How it helps you sleep: Spreads your weight evenly for zoned support and spinal alignment, and stops you rolling together so you're less likely to disturb your partner.
Mini Springs
What it is: A layer of small springs sitting above the main Mirapocket spring core.
How it helps you sleep: Adds a gentle, responsive layer of support that adapts to your body for a more tailored, comfortable night's rest.
Hand Tufted
What it is: A traditional upholstery method where the fillings are secured by hand with tufts running from the top of the mattress to the bottom.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps the fillings evenly distributed and firmly in place, so the mattress stays comfortable and free from lumps over time.
Flag-stitched Handles
What it is: Handles sewn onto both sides of the mattress using a durable flag-stitch method.
How it helps you sleep: Makes it easy to move and rotate the mattress, helping it wear evenly for longer-lasting comfort.
Easy Care
What it is: A single sided, no-turn design that only needs rotating from head to toe rather than flipping.
How it helps you sleep: Simple maintenance keeps your mattress in good condition with minimal effort, so you enjoy consistent comfort and support night after night.

Vs firmer mattresses: In its Soft Medium tension, the Viola Box Top gives noticeably more cushioning at the shoulders and hips than a typical firm mattress, thanks to the deep Box Top and UltraGel™ comfort layers. Even the Firm tension has a softer, more cushioned surface than many firm mattresses without a Box Top. Mattresses with a firmer, flatter surface throughout may suit heavier sleepers or those who want a more rigid feel.
Vs softer mattresses: The Viola Box Top pairs its plush surface with two layers of springs underneath, so you get the sink-in feel of a Box Top without losing structure and support. Very soft mattresses can feel more immediately luxurious but may not keep your spine as well aligned, especially if you change position during the night or share the bed with someone of a different body weight.
Vs premium and luxury mattresses: The Viola Box Top shares many of the features found in higher-priced mattresses, including a hand tufted finish, a dual spring system, gel-infused comfort foam and a long guarantee. The difference with more expensive options is typically in the use of natural fillings such as wool or cashmere and deeper layers of hand-finished upholstery, rather than any compromise in comfort or build quality.
The Silentnight Viola Box Top is backed by Silentnight's 15 year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. With its hand tufted construction and dual spring system, this is a mattress built to give you comfortable, supportive sleep for years to come - and the guarantee gives you long-term peace of mind.
National Bed Federation (NBF) Approved - Independently verified to meet strict UK standards for quality, safety and responsible manufacturing.
The Silentnight Viola Box Top combines a deep, cushioned Box Top with dual-layer springs and cooling UltraGel™ foam, all made in Great Britain and backed by a 15 year guarantee. Choose Soft Medium if you sleep on your side or move between positions, or Firm if you sleep on your back or front and want a more supportive feel. Not sure which tension is right for you?
