Worth Knowing
Firm Edge Mini Pocket Sprung Base
What it is: A floating single layer of 1,320 mini pocket springs (King Size) sits beneath the upholstery, surrounded by a firm edge.
How it helps you: The springs respond to the mattress above, adding comfort and support and helping it last longer, while the firm edge keeps support consistent right up to the side of the bed.
Ottoman Storage
What it is: A gas strut assisted lifting top that opens from the foot end to reveal the storage space inside the base.
How it helps you: The interior of the base becomes accessible storage with far more volume than standard drawers, and the gas struts hold the lid open safely without needing to be held. Allow clearance at the foot of the bed for the lid to open.
Solid Timber Frame
What it is: A solid timber frame and structural wooden base made from FSC certified timber, forming the foundation beneath the upholstery.
How it helps you: Gives the base lasting strength and stability, so it keeps supporting your mattress properly for years to come.
British Wool Upholstery
What it is: A layer of British wool within the upholstery, alongside needled and thermally bonded polyester, beneath a fully upholstered top panel.
How it helps you: British wool is naturally breathable and draws away moisture, helping to keep the bed cool in summer and cosy in winter.
Gas Strut Safety Lock
What it is: A manual safety lock built into the gas struts that lift the ottoman lid.
How it helps you: Holds the lid securely in its open position, giving you peace of mind while you reach in to store or retrieve items.
Scratch-Resistant, Anti-Bacterial Storage Lining
What it is: The interior surface of the storage space is scratch-resistant, abrasion-resistant and anti-bacterial.
How it helps you: Keeps the storage area clean and hard-wearing, so bedding, clothing and other items can be stored with confidence year after year.
Colour & Fabric Options
What it is: Available in a range of colour and fabric options.
How it helps you: Allows you to find the perfect match for your bedroom's style and décor.
Multiple Leg Options
What it is: A choice of 4 leg finishes, each 3cm high, is available to personalise the base.
How it helps you: Allows the base to be customised to suit your bedroom décor and personal style preferences, while raising it slightly off the floor.

Vs buying a complete divan set: A full divan set includes both the base and a matched mattress, chosen and tested to work together. A bed base alone is the better choice when you already have a mattress you want to keep, when you want to choose base and mattress separately, or when you are replacing a base that has worn out while the mattress remains in good condition. If you are buying both together and want a single coordinated purchase, a divan set removes the guesswork of pairing separately.
Vs a platform top vs a sprung base: Platform top bases provide a firm, flat surface and are compatible with all mattress types including memory foam, latex, and pocket sprung. A sprung base like this one adds a layer of spring response from the base itself, which can extend the life of the mattress by absorbing part of the daily load. If you sleep on a traditional pocket sprung mattress, a sprung base may improve both comfort and longevity. If you prefer a firm feel or sleep on a memory foam or latex mattress, a platform top is often the better match.
Vs other bases in the range: Most ottoman bases use a platform top, so storage comes at the cost of spring support from the base. This base combines both, pairing end-opening ottoman storage with a layer of mini pocket springs. Compared with drawer divan bases, the ottoman opens up far more usable storage space, though it needs clearance at the foot of the bed rather than at the sides. As a handcrafted, premium brand base, it sits at the upper end of the range in both price and specification.
The Vispring Ottoman is backed by Vispring's 5-year guarantee. A 5-year guarantee on an ottoman base is a strong signal of confidence in the build quality - and for a base that supports a premium Vispring mattress and carries daily storage use, long-term structural integrity matters.
FSC Certified - Independently certified confirmation that the timber used in this base has been sourced from responsibly managed forests.
The Vispring Ottoman gives you a sprung base and generous storage in one, with 1,320 mini pocket springs (King Size) working beneath your mattress and an end-opening lid that lifts on gas struts. Handcrafted in Plymouth, Devon from FSC certified timber and backed by a 5-year guarantee, it is a natural partner for a Vispring mattress.
