Product Description

The Bridgwater is a natural pocket sprung pillowtop mattress from Relyon, handcrafted in Great Britain. It is built around 1400 pocket springs and layered with Dunlopillo Latex, a blended Wool, Cashmere and Silk comfort layer, soft white fibre and a recycled eco support base – entirely foam free throughout. The result is a medium feel mattress that combines the responsive support of pocket springs with the breathability and pressure relief of premium natural fillings, making it a genuinely versatile choice for most sleeper types.

Who Is This Mattress For?

A natural pocket sprung pillowtop mattress, best suited to sleepers who want medium support, natural temperature regulation and the pressure-relieving comfort of Dunlopillo Latex.

Medium Feel – 3/6: The goldilocks option – not too firm, not too soft. Medium is the most versatile firmness level, balancing comfort and support in a way that suits most sleeper types.

Best for

  • Side sleepers – the pillowtop and Dunlopillo Latex combination cushions shoulders and hips to relieve pressure points while pocket springs keep your spine aligned
  • Back sleepers – supportive enough to maintain the natural curve of your spine without feeling too firm
  • Front sleepers – firm enough to help prevent hips from sinking too far, comfortable enough that you will not notice
  • Combination sleepers – responsive pocket springs adapt as you move, so the mattress works however you sleep
  • Couples – individually wrapped pocket springs reduce motion transfer so you are less likely to disturb each other
  • Hot sleepers – Dunlopillo Latex and the blended Wool, Cashmere and Silk layer naturally regulate temperature for a cooler, fresher night's sleep
  • Sleepers up to 114kg (18st) per side

Not ideal for

  • Sleepers who prefer a very soft, sink-in feel
  • Heavier sleepers who may benefit from a firmer mattress for better support

Inside This Mattress

Pocket Springs
What it is: Individual springs each enclosed in their own fabric pocket, working independently to provide personalised support.
How it helps you sleep: The upper part shapes to body contours while the lower part absorbs weight distribution changes, working independently to avoid roll-together and provide superior personal support.

Pillowtop
What it is: An extra layer of cushioning sewn onto the top of the mattress, as if the mattress were topped with a pillow.
How it helps you sleep: Increases softness and comfort with additional cushioning layers, easing pressure points and providing a more luxurious and indulgent sleeping experience.

White Fibre Layer
What it is: A dust-free white polyester fibre filling formed into a deep layer to provide softness and resilience.
How it helps you sleep: Adds soft cushioning and resilience to the mattress comfort layers, creating a soft, comfortable sleeping surface with good shape retention.

Blended Cashmere, Silk and Wool Layer

What it is: A supportive fibre layer made from recycled materials with rebound properties.
How it helps you sleep: Provides excellent comfort and enhanced support while contributing to a more sustainable sleep product, giving you a better night's rest with a reduced environmental footprint.

Firm Edge Support
What it is: Firmer springs or foam along the outer edge of the mattress that provide a more supportive perimeter.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the usable sleeping surface right to the edge of the mattress and prevents roll-off, giving you a more secure and comfortable night's sleep.

Hand Tufted
What it is: A traditional upholstery method where fillings are secured by hand with tufts running from the top to the bottom of the mattress.
How it helps you sleep: Keeps all loose fillings evenly distributed and firmly in place, maintaining consistent comfort and preventing lumps from forming over time.

Rows of Side Stitching
What it is: Multiple rows of stitching along the sides of the mattress that reinforce the border and support the mattress walls.
How it helps you sleep: Extends the sleeping area to the mattress edge and strengthens the borders, ensuring consistent support all the way to the sides.

How it Compares

Vs firmer models: The Bridgwater's medium tension combined with its pillowtop and Dunlopillo Latex comfort layers give it noticeably more pressure relief than a firmer model. For side sleepers or anyone who wants a plush, natural feel with genuine support, this is the more comfortable choice. Firmer models are better suited to heavier sleepers or those who need a very rigid, orthopaedic-style surface.

Vs softer models: The Bridgwater has more structural support beneath the pillowtop than a soft mattress, making it the better long-term choice for combination sleepers and couples who need the mattress to hold spinal alignment across different sleeping positions. Softer options can feel more immediately luxurious but may not maintain consistent support over time.

Vs premium and luxury ranges: The Bridgwater shares the same handcrafted UK construction, natural fillings and pocket spring technology found in higher-end Relyon models. The distinction at this level is typically in the depth and number of individual comfort layers rather than any compromise in craftsmanship, spring quality or the standard of materials used.

10 Year Guarantee

The Bridgwater is backed by Relyon's 10 year manufacturer's guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. With a pocket spring system, premium natural fillings and handcrafted construction, this is a mattress built to deliver lasting comfort and support. The guarantee reflects the quality of what is inside and gives you confidence in your investment from night one.
